If you have been following the news lately, then you have seen that tent cities have been a major news topic and are being cracked down upon all over the world; specifically in Dallas, Tx, Oakland, CA, and San Francisco.
The tent culture has been popular amongst the homeless for many years. As a matter of fact there are many people who prefer to live in a tent city and wouldn't have it any other way. This is especially true in such places as Key West Florida, Southern California, Hawaii, and any other tropical paradise that affords an environment of gentle bliss.
This is completely understandable because tents make an excellent shelter from the environment extremes and somehow satisfy the urge for a "hut of one's own" that we all as humans have inside of us. It stands to reason you see, that if these things are good enough for the fighting men and women of this great country to inhabit, that they are suitable for anyone to live in other than the sick and infirm, and even they can make due with them in a crunch.
Here are three dangers you need to be cognizant of should you ever find yourself living in a tent city:
1. Fire There is no greater danger than a fire in a tent city. The fabric will envelop you as it burns, and will swath you in a flaming shroud that will roast the life out of you as you shriek and thrash wildly. If you are in a tent city make sure that you rehearse your plans for escape.
2. Crime By their very nature, tents are not very secure. A knife or even strong hands can give anyone access to your tent and anyone who lives in a tent city should keep their valuables close and sleep with one eye open most of the time.
3. Weather Though these things will keep you safe from common weather patterns, extreme weather such as flooding thunderstorms, high winds, or tornadoes offer a high amount of danger if you are living in a tent city. The idea that a tent can blow away is factual, and you don't want to be involved in that by being caught inside that tent.
